April 26: Sexual Assault Awareness Night: Take Back the Night

The Women and Gender Advocacy Center will sponsor Take Back the Night during Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

The month of April has been designated Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) in the United States. The goal of SAAM is to raise public awareness about sexual violence and to educate communities and individuals on how to prevent sexual violence.

This internationally recognized rally and protest creates an atmosphere of empowerment, while raising awareness about sexual violence. The event begins with a survivor speak out and ends with a march to Old Town for a keynote speech.

Keynote Speaker: Lauren Chief Elk – activist, political organizer, and co-founder of the Save Wiyabi Project
