Nov. 6th: Mondays First – Women Faculty Writing Sessions

Mondays First sets aside a time and place for women faculty to get together for conversation, community, and writing. These CSU Writes sessions are sponsored by the Women and Gender Collaborative and afford a rare, interdisciplinary, supportive space for women faculty to gather and work productively on their own projects…together.

The title, “Mondays First,” refers both to the gathering time and to the need for faculty women writers to privilege their writing when building and enhancing their careers in academe.

Mondays First for fall semester will take place in Lory Student Center Room 322 from 9 – 10:50 AM unless otherwise noted:

Fall Semester Dates
September 11th (8:00 – 10:50 AM)*

October 2nd
November 6th
December 4th

Spring Semester Dates
January 22nd*
February 5th
March 5th
April 2nd
May 7th

Each Monday gathering opens with a gender-aware discussion session about our current writing challenges and successes as well as recent research and findings on writing strategies. This half-hour discussion is then followed by an 80-minute writing session in which participants can write “on their own” yet within a positive and communal space. (Coffee and tea provided)

It is ideal if you can attend the entire Mondays First session but understandable (given faculty schedules) if you cannot.  Feel free to drop in for the length of time you have available. Also, feel free to bring a colleague or, if you cannot attend, forward this invitation to a colleague.

*The very “first” Mondays First of each semester opens with a special session to discuss the campus climate for faculty women and strategies for support. Light breakfast offerings of fruit, yogurt, in addition to coffee and hot tea provided at these first, extended sessions.
