Jumoke Emery is a professional community organizer and activist. A native of Detroit, Michigan, Jumoke’s passion for his work is rooted in a deep sense of love and respect for Black community. Emery moved to Denver to study Sociology at Regis University and gained a greater hunger for confronting racialized injustice and institutional systems of oppression. Emery went on to pursue a career as a faith-based community organizer and has had the opportunity to organize in communities across the country including Ferguson, Missouri. Locally, he has been a founding core member of both the Denver Freedom Riders and BLM5280, furthering the cause of advancing racial justice in Denver. Most recently, he created and led the No Slavery, No Exceptions campaign, designed to remove the exceptions for enslavement from the Colorado state constitution resulting in Amendment T being placed on the Colorado ballot for 2016. Jumoke Emery is deeply committed to advancing Black liberation and someday hopes to live in a world where BLACK LIVES MATTER.
